Apologies for my abruptness, as I've only just re-registered on here, but I've got to get my Series back on the road ASAP, it's my only transport.
Coming home from work last Monday afternoon, I suffered a complete transmission failure, lost all drive full stop.
My first thoughts were a broken shaft in the gearbox, or a stripped spline on the overdrive.
I got the transmission out today, and much to my surprise it was the clutch driven plate that had failed.
The splined boss in the centre of the plate was simply spinning around.
Plenty of little bits of metal strewn about and one large bit (about the size of a postage stamp)
Well I'm pleased about gearbox not being trashed, but the clutch plate was a Borg and Beck item, not some cheapo far Eastern replacement.
I think it's only done about 20,000 miles
Now I've got to get to get another driven plate PDQ, I won't be buying one in a blue box, and I won't be buying Borg and Beck either.
Any recommendations for something that isn't going to self destruct in three years ?
I've been looking at AP or Quinton Hazel maybe ?
It's getting hard to say what is or isn't a quality brand anymore.

How about LOF, do they do one for a Series?
Most aftermarket stuff seems to be a name only with no relationship to the company they used to be.

Cheers! , I'd forgotten about LOF, I'll check them out tonight.
Got an idea they only do complete kits, but still.
