Can't quite believe it, my first MPG test and I get 28.9 MPG - that was with 4 adults, 2 children, luggage, a roof box and the air con on full blast! Bearing in mind that it is an auto I can't quite believe it - I was expecting 25 at best!

Be interested to see what it does without all the passengers and no roof box.

My first mpg auto test was 27.8mpg. After changing all the fluids and filters we are now getting 34.7mpg on a run.

I was getting 24-26mpg out of my manual 96 300tdi ES. After removing the EGR valve and the CAT I find I can get 27-31 MPG. Not sure if altering the pump and fitting a K&N will improve it further.

I get about 75miles for a tenner which at 93.9p (Local Asda) per litre works out at 32.05mpg

Nice! I wish I got that with my V8i 3.5 auto. I think a articulated truck gets more mpg then mine.

That might be true!

In the late 1980s I drove a Scania 142M artic for a couple of years, which had a 15.5 litre V-8 engine but only ten gears.

Running at 38 to 40 tons this super truck could always manage about TWELVE miles to the gallon, and when you work that out at MPG per TON it is very impressive.

Bit tight for space I reckon,

but at 450 bhp & 2200 rpm and two trillion foot-pounds of torque, it might interesting!

That would be the ultimate though. A scania tractor unit with a disco body bolted on. Wouldnt be 4x4 though...
