When I bought my TD5 100 defender, I also bought new wheels and tyres. I was enticed in buying 265 wheels and tyres. I live down a very bumpy dirt track, and am bored of the Landy being splattered by mud all down the sides, as the tyres are wider than the wheel arches. Is there a simple solution???

Thanks

My 285s with huge offset rims are about in line with the arches. Do you have spacers?

I am sure most of you folks with the witty wise cracks get out into the mud, what, once a month if the wife allows, and relish's your little bit of mud tourism.
I know I could have probably worded my question a little more intelligently, but I wondered if there was an issue with wheel spacers or if there were any recommended after market wheel arches.
It's a bit different when you live in the mud rather than play hero in it once in a while@!

There is your problem Phil, I dont ask my wife when I can get the landy or car dirty. If she likes she can wash it I wont try to stop her.
My landrover is my working vehicle like it was built for, not the same as yours I think?

Wow..:doh: Do you realise mine hasn't been properly clean in about 6 months? When I go more than 60 it even starts shaking because of uneven clumps stuck to my wheels.. Perhaps you'd like to show us some piccies of your 'muddy' landy?

I am unsure where the spacers would actually be. Anyone got any pics???

I think you need to take a trip to the zoo and find out which gibbon you have had a brain transplant from...the gibbon probably would be overjoyed to receive its brain back.

I know I'm only a newby when it comes to Land Rovers but I would start your search for the spacers somewhere behind the wheels (those are the funny round things that touch the ground!)

Could always modify the Landy by fitting a water tank, pump and sprinklers down the sides so that it washes that awful dirty mud away whilst driving it:rolleyes:

FFS, just dig a big pit at either end of the lane about 3' or so deep and fill with CLEAN water (may need snorkel for Landy), then Landy gets a wash regularly and you don't have to look at a Landy with mud on it. SIMPLES,,.... A Landy with mud on it, oh my god thats just like RIDICULOUS MAN:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Think my idea was better then at least your not taking up all the room in the Landy with your tanks and pumps and stuff.
