Hi,
I have just joined this forum today in the hope someone can advise me on tyre sizes! I am looking at either 235 85 r16 or 265 75 r16. I have read all I can find on these two sizes and know that they are roughly about the hight - just the width thats different, (with possibly some rubbing issues on the wider tyre, but heard its an easy fix) I basically want to know if there are any advantages to having one tyre size over the other? I am looking at getting Insa turbo dakar tyres, does anyone have any good points or bad point about these tyres or any recommendations. My truck is mainly used off road.

welcome by the way ! what you driving ????? i've got insa tturbo specials 235/85 on my disco with a 2" lift

I am driving a 90. Its very much a work in progress and comes 2nd only to the wife and kids. I have just found myself in the position where I can actually spend some money on it - so tyres for me was the obvious option.

Are the specials noisy on the road?
 
yes very noisey at 40 it sounds like i'm being chased by the police helicopter !

not sure about 90's ( sure someone else will know ) my personal preference is the 235/85 as I wanted as much height as I could get
 
Storm99, what are the reasons you would go for 265's? Would 265's perform better than 235's. Or is it just the look you would go for as they are wider?
 
im on 235 bfg and thats perfect for me in my 110, i did see one with 285 bfg and they def looked better,ill proberly upgrade to thoese next time,
if your 90 is just for off road why dont you lift it and put 33" on it?

my landi is standard hight at the mo.... the budget wont stretch to a lift at the moment. I do use it on the road, thats why i have not gone for purely off road tyres, but its more off road than on.

we get a lot of snow, i feel slightly more comfortable with the 265's...did consider the 285's but got a good deal on mine at the time.
