So, we have three active car policies.
No claims on ANY of them for decades...

The other two policies go down, year after year.

Flux had just sent me a renewal "invitation" at just over 21% more than I paid with them last year!!!

Is it just me or is this proper chancing it?

And next -

Who else to call for a TDI powered 101 ambi camper (on the v5 / DVLA as a motor caravan)?

Ps I called flux and they talked about commissions and all the usual stuff... But, whatever way you look at it, 21% takes the...

Oh, and they said it was the best that they could do. And followed up by "if you find it cheaper, we will beat it" - so thats a lie right there too!

Grrr...

I've just had similar. Last year I put my D4 over to the same company that did my motorhome - Devitt - and the cost was £630 for 10+ years no claim, protected no claims, no convictions whatsoever and no voluntary excess. This year, for exactly the same the cost requested was £772, so I told them where to. GC came up with AA so I phoned them and for the same specification they asked £450. Big difference.

Hi there,

Sorry to learn of the dissatisfaction about the increase in the renewal. Without wishing to discuss on the open forum I believe that you have since made contact with our renewals department and our premium is nearer to last years?

Admittedly there is a slight increase, although that I believe is due to a combination of the insurers 6% rate increase and we have an admin fee of £10 this year.

Feel free to message me if you aren't happy with the revised rate.

Kind Regards,

Dan

Yeah, i called up and got the increase down from 21% to a mere 12%.

What's inflation running at again? 1.74% last year.... So the added 10%, is that just for fun?

So, i pay 10% extra this year, then 10% next year, then... (sorry, no, 12% - but only if i call up and barter, otherwise its 20%!)

All the while, whilst my other car policies get cheaper?

As i stated on the phone, despite my other premiums getting cheaper, I'm OK with paying the same as last year out of convenience, but, alas, it seems like no-one there thinks i can do simple maths.

21%, 12% when inflation is running at less than 2% and my other policies are falling?

I mean, really?

Flux did that to me as well. Following a 'phone conversation the premium came down to a more reasonable (but still inflated) figure, but the excess was higher than I have ever been quoted in all my 56 years of vehicle ownership ... over £400 & this for a 33 yr.old RR driven by a 75 yr.old pensioner with a clean license, full ncd & a 3k annual mileage limit. They also declined to quote for agreed value because the car isn't garaged, despite not living in a high risk area.
Never mind, I did obtain cover from another broker for much less than Flux & a fraction of the excess, but sadly still no agreed value.

Id give flux the swerve on principle of that price, I wouldnt be giving them the opportunity to get my business.

Try Peter James next year, I have agreed value and they are both kept on the driveway.
Sadly age is a factor, my Fil who is 84 driving his mighty nissan leaf 3kmiles per year and they want 850 quid!

Try lancaster, flux have bumped mine up for the last few years sick of them tbh.

I just had a quote for a RR tdv8 for a runabout for me & the misses, no claims used on our other
motors, no driving convictions or accidents...Adrian flux are a rip off check this.........

Chruchill £253.12 including legal cover including 12 months breakdown, curtesy car bla bla

I just had my renewal with Flux, they wanted I think 520 renewal, up from 480... I checked GoCompare, and the average quote was 250 (as low as 190 if I didn't care for breakdown or key cover, but I do)... best Flux could do was 470... after 9 years and missing most renewal windows because I was overseas it is time for me to move on.

So much for:
Our unbeatable price guarantee

We're confident that we've found you the most competitive price on the market. Even so, when it comes to your car insurance renewal we won't be beaten on value. If you do find a better quote for the same cover elsewhere please call us before 29/10/2020 with full details and we will guarantee∗ to beat their price!

Yes, I moved on earlier this year for the same reason.:)

Sadly, as my time with kit cars has proven, A Flux built themselves a reputation as the "go to" insurers for cars that weren't the run of the mill.
Soon found them to be trading on this, adversely, for the customer so moved to others.
So if you insure your Landy with them, best of luck to you.
To be honest most insurance brokers, cos that IS all they are, are prossies.
They will flog you a policy at a cheap price and then go to fleece you on renewal relying on client inertia.
I once rang Lancaster, my existing insurer, as if I was a newbie. they quoted me reasonably, then asked for whom they should contact re my NCD, at which point I said "Yourselves as I am insured with you at the mo, policy number dah di dah di dah. Long silence on the end of the phone.
They did honour the quote but I got the impression it stuck in their craw.

As with antivirus peeps for your pooter, house insurance, etc, etc change every year to get the best price. Boring of course and that is what they rely on.:(:(:(

Well, we agreed to renew with @Adrian Flux again as the renewal price was fair. As usual we email off the agreed value and photos to the renewal email address and.....nothing, no reply. So a week later I send another email asking if there is an update....no reply again.

We had exactly the same ignorant lack of service and response last year and it took a few emails and phone calls just to renew. We've insured with Flux for 9 years and the service seems to have deteriorated. I pulled my work car away from them last year to a local broker (purely due to poor service) and I think we're going to have to find another insurer for the Land Rover.

Just had same expreince with Lancaster - 25% hike on renewal. I gave then a call and explained that they needed to come down to under 10% hike or I would place business elsewhere. They called back with a 6% hike so they got the renewal. I can't see there being that much business around so I'm sure a lot of insurers are negotiable.

As stated earlier, they are ALL prossies. NFU for years put themselves forward as the LR owners friend. Ditto Flux for modified.

Lancaster tried charging me for key insurance this year. It was free Last year.
That was until I phoned them to take it off the bill. My series key can be substituted with a bent spoon if I lose it
