Hi to you all, newby to this forum. I have acquired a 1965 S2 it came with 7.50 x16 tyres on from a 110 and l have just bought 6 x 205/55/16 on VW rims ( all new) and l know the S2 will take 6.00 x 16 and the equivalent to the 205’s are 7.00 x 16, question is will they be ok to fit on the 110 rims.

205’s will fit the rims fine. But they are a short tyre and will look lost in the wheel arch. Plus make the overall gearing shorter for road use. Ie a lower cruising speed. But should make the steering lighter.

A 7.00 is not the same size and should be about 30” tall, but more likely just over. As a 7.50 is just under 32” tall. A 205 is 28.9”. Making it shorter than a 6.50 even. And slightly fatter. 205’s where a standard size on some Ninety’s.

Thanks for your advice 300bhp/ton l’ll take it all in and my next step is to put her up on axle stands and find someone to fit them. I have a height restriction on the carport in front of my garage so it will help temporarily.

88 on 205/6.5 and 7.50 respectively.

205 looked crap, but that might just be the disco steels, 6.50 looked cute, but you lost ground clearance under the diff, 7.50 just look right, the 7.50 are on the wider steels.

My main reason for fitting the 205’s is and l know it sounds silly but I have a height restriction (2 meters) in my garage and need to move my s2 in and out during the overhaul as l have other projects on the go. Have to get a bigger garage 🤣🤣 Cheers 👍
