Hi All, looking for some help with my Freelander2 2012.
although suspect the issue the same on all radios of this era.
as im driving along the radio beeps loudly switches off for a split second comes back on.
ive seen other posts about it but no answers.
help needed as its driving me mad now.
One problem is i cant 'recreate' it to test things out seems random, sometimes after 1 minute of driving sometimes 10 minutes.
thanks

You need to have a diagnostic run on the systems and see if anything come up which is related to the infotainment system.
From memory there is a software update which improved stability of the infotainment system.

thanks for reply, been on the phone to Land Rover this morning, no updates available according to their system, but happy to investigate for £125.
might have to buy a code reader, ive looked in the error log of the 'secret sat nav menu' but the codes dont seem to mean anything according to google. the most recent ones on that screen are 5253, A508, 58-c1.
(also replace my split intercooler pipe this week so those codes may be from that dont know).

a 'bad earth' has been suggested, does anyone know how to get to the earth under the drivers seat (UK) is it a big job?

You can buy an LR specific Icarsoft code reader from about £100 for the now discontinued I930, or spend more and get the newer Icarsoft LR V2 or latest LR V3.
These readers will read all vehicle systems and clear codes if needed.
They can't program updates though, only JLR SDD (JLR's own software) or the Gap IID tool can program updates or make vehicle changes, and the IID isn't fully featured on the FL2.
So diagnostics are easy, programming updates not so.

There are also a host of multi-vehicle diagnostic readers available, some good, some really expensive, and some not good at all.

There are multiple grounding points on this vehicle, most of which are shown in the workshop manual, which is available to download on this forum software.

Update to this thread, check all the fuses, they're all fine, disconnected the fibre optic cable to the Bluetooth unit and bypassed it. the stereo worked for a 10mins, then beeped and went off and on.
***during the BT bypass the phone part didnt work (obvs) when you press the phone button on the head unit nothing happens.
reconnected the BT fibre.
disconnected the amp fibre and bypassed it, screen flashed black with the land rover logo, and the stereo didnt come on.
all back together now, still happening!
frustrating, random power off and on.
any thoughts what to do next, i cant be the only person with this problem

Update;
bought this
Amazon product
took the dash apart following this video

disconnected screen power, bypassed fibre optic cable, still beeped and switched on and off
screen power back on, disconnected CD player power, bypassed fibre optic cable, still beeped and switched on and off
CD player back on, disconnected bluetooth module in the boot power (right hand side if looking into the boot), bypassed fibre optic cable, still beeped and switched on and off
Bluetooth back on, disconnected amp power, bypassed fibre optic cable, nothing from the stereo.

all back together now, Arghh! what is it?!
whats is causing the 'short'?
i cant be the only person this is happening too

Generally the system is very reliable. Have you run a diagnostic on the infotainment system? That's the only way to you'll get an idea of what the issue is.
