Hi All!

A Galway Green 2011 4.4 has become available but I’m concerned by the rear arch lip rust.
Is there any saving this or is it too far gone, despite the quite good price on the car?

The car is a short flight away a so is it worth it…

Sorry these are screen shots from video so not amazing quality…

Thanks

Going by my Transit, once the tin worm is active, it's hard to stop without cutting out the rusty area and welding in new. Big job.

I have almost always found rust to be worse than it looks. Mind you if it's cheap enough it might be worth having a look at it.

I believe there are more threads on this issue especially regarding welding the inner arch to the outer arch. There may be worse rust further round the arches where they are trapped by the rear door seals? I would want to see the whole arch both sides with doors open before flying. Also if the outer edges of the arches are rusted there is likely to be bubbles about to come through just above the mud flap on the outside paintwork in my experience having owned two of these models from 2005 manufacture. Worth investigating. Good luck.
Tricky
