Hi - I'm thinking about putting a 200 tdi into my petrol 90 and have found someone who works on landys who has done a few of these. He reckons its not worth the effort of wiring in the glow plugs as the TDi is a great motor that will always start in this country without pre-heating. I'm unsure....

Anyone successfully running a 200 TDi without glow plugs out there? Appreciate any comments. Ta.

a good one with plenty of compression will start without heat - but just look at the number of threads on here recently moaning about poor starting 200/300s since the weather has gone a bit chilly

it's not a lot of extra work to wire it in

my 200tdi disco needed two lots of heat to start easily last week..... i cant see any logic in not wiring them in as theyre allready there.

i have a 200tdi conversion in my b reg 90, the glow plugs are wired in but you need to hold the key 3 quarters to get any heat. All through this bad weather i have never need to hold it on any heat, doesnt even spin once and it starts. good quailty battery with a beefy starter motor (not the little sh*t ones) and you'll be fine. Although it would be easy to rig them up to a push button switch on the dash just in case

i have a 200 in my old 90 with heaters wired up dont tend to use em but i did last week...
in that freezin week i wasnt takin the chance to flatten my batt

I've had a disco 200 TDi in my 90 for 2 years now, Aberdeenshire isn't too warm in the winter, and I still haven't got round to wiring up the glow plugs, although I have picked up the glow plug loom from Autosparks, so it might happen soon.

It needs a bit of cranking at minus 15, but it does start after a while. Then it runs like a bag of bolts until it all warms up (A couple of minutes, tops)
