I need a 'new' turbo. Genuine part is silly price but I understand a new garrett oem item is about £500. I have been offered a reconditioned unit for £400 with 1yr/12,000 miles warranty.

Seems with price difference I should go with new item but does it fit without modification?

Also, some reconditioned parts seem to do better than others. What about a turbo?

Thanks

Probably cheaper to buy an old engine, remove the turbo and re-furbish it yourself.

Keep trying on here as there are loads of helpful people with sheds full of bits.....

personaly I'd look for a reconditioned one, as it will have new shafts ands seals ect, also they won't recondition a turbo that is not serviceable as they have to sell the turbos with a warranty. You could rebuild you own turbo, there are plenty of rebuild kits kicking around.
