Right it's done [emoji2] ish.

All I can see that needs doing for the MOT has been done [emoji4]

But now the front prop is on its thrown up a knackered CV joint [emoji36] but the car came with a full swivel rebuild kit so I just need to buy a CV joint.

So jobs done to date:

Two new outer sills and inner sill repairs
New rear cross member
New front prop
New light stalk
Replacement lower tailgate
New upper tailgate, still in the box so the V8 one fitted for now
Front valance removed
Bullbar removed
Rear bumper fitted
Replacement wheels and tyres
New front ARB bushes fitted
Towbar removed and tank guard fitted
Engine service

Hmmm wonder what else will need doing for the MOT tomorrow?

That's not too bad; could have been a lot worse! Brake pipes is not a bad job but if it has ABS bleeding can be a test of patience. Did mine a few years ago, replaced all the flexi pipes with braided at the same time which was a bit of luck really becasue all the unions were so badly corroded I had to cut them off so would have needed new ones anyway. IIRC did the whole lot single handed in a weekend.
 
Nah break pipes are the least of my worries, it's not got ABS but has got a powered breaking system, I think its the same as the LSE system but I do have a bleeding kit so will see how well it works

Stu, that is ABS!! Though didn't see from the photo's if it has the traction control as well. Make sure you follow the procedure for bleeding to the letter, it is a bit of a faff, make sure you take your time especially when bleeding the pump, the accumulator is easy enough to do and remember you MUST bleed both the hydrostatic circuit and the power circuit. It is a lot easier if you have an assistant for bleeding the brakes and even better if you can get it on a lift and have all 4 wheels off at once. Your challenge is to use more than 15 litres of brake fluid to bleed the system;)
 
Hmm, didn't see any abs lights on the dash.

Stu and Lee are hopefully replacing the cvj tonight so they should see from that if it has an abs ring and sensor in the swivel
 
Thanks for the heads up Kev. Yes it is ABS. Previous owner said it wasn't but was a pressurised system. I have the procedure in my Haynes book. I have a bleeding gadget that I will use and hopefully help so all should be good, just says which order to do it in which is crucial.
 
Yes that's the same set up as mine.... what a ####er it was ! As has been stated, follow the procedure to the letter !
 
Right all done to the letter. Nearly. I had to release a air lock under the bonnet before the peddle would prime. My vacuum bleed system works but I couldn't get a good enough seal so had Sarah pumping the brakes for me. Definitely need the ignition on and the pump running to prime the back brakes

I do however have one problem, when braking the car now pulls to the right slightly before straightening out, it didn't do this before i changed the brake lines, does anybody know what could be going on? is it possible that I have connected the calliper pipes up the wrong was round on one side? would this do this or is it more likely that it is a dodgy calliper? I'm confused, any advice welcome before I try and track down a new set of callipers

Bleed the brake system again. Had this myself not that long ago although mine was pulling to the left. Have a look at the discs and see if there is any blue which could indicate a sticky caliper, it is possible to get an air lock in the front caliper(s), I had this issue and it was at one point that if I applied the brakes (hard) stationery at idle one front wheel would lock solid, opening the bleed nipples on the top of the caliper would release the wheel - bled the system again and normal service was resumed. I would also just check the wheel bearings. HTH.
 
Cheers Kev. The brakes are settling down now after another bleeding.

I changed the cv joint, with help from Jue and Lee. All set for trialing today then I lost reverse. Had the top off the box to look for something simple and no, so instead of trialing today we are swapping the gearbox. Hopefully I will find all the major issues and have a working Rangy

Well it was all going well tonight, everything back together ready for a test and wouldn't start. After some investigation work found that the starter solinoid wire had been trapped in the bell housing [emoji35] so need to take that off again tomorrow now
