Hi all,

Recently been having problems with my 90 not starting. It has been intermittent for a few months so I cleaned the starter and that didn't fix it. I have recently put a new starter in but it didn't work at all then realised the red and white wire out of the stater relay was only putting out 5v at the solenoid so I bypast the wire as I suspect it is broken down the line somewhere so now I have a new wire direct from the relay to the starter putting 12v out.

However it is still not starting everytime the relay clicks and the starter clicks but nothing else. I have ran an earth from the starter straight to that battery because I thought it could be a dodgy earth but still fails to start everytime?

Can anyone offer any help?!

Cheers

Are you sure theres a relay in the starter circuit?
If there is a relay is it getting a decent power supply?
I ask as I thought it came straight from the back of the ign barrel.

Ye it's behind the fuse box a wire from the ignition powers up the relay when the ignition is switched half way then full turn shud crank the engine. I've got an earth straight to the battery from the starter so it can't be that. I'm thinking a loose connection somewhere just a matter of finding it

Just put your own supply to the relay as a test pin 30
Oh yeh also dont use a voltmeter as it can lie best to use a 21 watt indicator bulb and 2 wires so long as it lights up bright all is good.

Ye sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't the starter just doesn't do anything the solenoid clicks but nothing else. It can't be the starter because I've changed it definitely an electrical fault somewhere.
