Hello,

Just a quick question for anyone with a 200TDi or maybe a 300TDi regarding engine noise. If you rev your engine and maintain your revs for about 5 seconds so that the turbo is boosting, and then you quickly lift your right foot, and keep it steady (as to maintain lower revs) does the engine make a more obvious kind of 'diesely' knocking sound (not diesel knock) when the engine revs whilst the turbo isn't boosting? It is also apparent when you maintain steady revs (without the turbo boosting) whilst traveling. It's not a massive clattering sound, just a wraughty sound!

Anyone?

I don't know to be honest. I need to hear another engine doing the same thing before I can determine that. I'm not going to adjust it yet, but I will compare it to another TDi tomorrow if I can :) It sounds like a strange question really.

I do think that it's just the standard kind of TDi sound. It's only apparent when the turbo isn't boosting, which kind of makes sense. It just seems to be a little more aggressive in the colder weather. That said, my engine isn't heating up anywhere near as much as usual. I'll swap the stat.

Cheers
