It happened to me but it was easier for me to fit a new engine at the time. I heard it running like a bucket of spanners then bang.

Hmmn looking down the cam holes it appears the whole camshaft has moved rearwards by about 15mm possibly as the sproket bolt unwound, this has manked up two of the cam followers, will it have jiggered the bearings?

I'm ready to fit the new camshaft now, bearings seem good. But I cant quite understand what stops the shaft moving from side to side other than the Camshaft retaining plate ? Surely it cant be bearing on that?

I think thats all there is to it, most likely runs pretty straight anyway as theres no side loads as such.

Well all tickety boo again now, not even that much tickety! out of the whole job the most frustrating and bloody awkward was getting the dip stick tube back in so that the dip stick will run down it. Thanks for all your help.
