The lift pump on my Tdi is leaking from the threads of the the lift pump on the pipe that goes to the fuel filter

Does this normally just seal with the threads being tight or should there be a small o ring or something on it?

threads dont seal an olive or taper fit do, its either loose or contact surfaces are misaligned or damaged

If you tighten it, do it a bit at a time.

IF you tighten it up, knock it back a little FIRST then nip it up. Don't just try to tighten it.
