Yeah exactly my thought you haven't got the *hit* of the turbo ( which in his is well tuned :D )

wasn't thinking of the turbo really but I see your point. I was just on about the harshness when dropping down low revs there is no go so you tend to snatch a lower gear where as a V8 a good one will pull 3rd gear dropping down low for every roundabout and then accelerating again without ever releasing drive. V8's suffered from mainshaft and input spline wear but the Tdi was king of destructon as the ammount of gear changes its done in its life must hammer the bejesus out of it and the lack of lubrication LR built in.

I suppose the Tdi and previous Diesels suffered all the same main spline wear. What exactly blew up on the series boxes would be good to know

Whats that Look how I fecked up my landy I can work for you!

Hehe

More a case of overcoming challenges and making things that shouldn't work together work ;)

I sold my gearbox and transfer for 170 not that expensive really ;)

True but I'd already sold my adaptor plate and bought the AW transmission recon V8 box with a new bellhousing for £250 all in

Plus this way I get a LSD rear

Seem to have hijacked a thread! Back to the topic bitches :p

The last box my mate broke ( you may have seen the pic of me recovering him ) was pulling out of a junction under load trying to get out of the line of traffic so not a gear change issue it just couldn't handle the power

My 2.5na diesel gearbox that came out my 90 had half a mm of spline left. Thats why I wasn't worried about the deal that I remove the box I take away the 90. Fair deal to me

halfshafts the weekest point if box is in reasonable condition
