Hello all, Just looking for somebody more wise than me in the ways of the Green Oval to point me in the right direction on this one.
Sometimes on start up and not always on a cold start up, when I turn the ignition key I get a click, dash lights come on but nothing turns over, when I turn it off and back on again it usually starts within 1 to 3 attempts but each time I turn it I get the same lifeless click almost as if the battery is dead.

It's had a new alt and Battery of late but it had done this before then.

If anybody could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Cheers

If the battery connection's are good and do take a look at them then try the main feed to the starter motor.

Check the main earth's from battery to chassis and engine. A jump lead from battery negative to engine block helps diagnose.

Other possibilities I've had in the past is a corroded main feed from battery to starter. Connections were clean but high resistance meant starting was hit and miss until I changed the cable. The other was a dodgy isolation switch.

Check the spade terminal on the starter solenoid, its a right royal bar steward to get to, possibly the most difficult one I have ever come across.

I had a very similar problem. Turned out it was the earth cable where it joined onto the chassis. A bit of a clean and it works good as new now.
