Hi all,
Will be picking a 200tdi discovery engine up next weekend in a trailer.
I have a couple of pallets ready to make up a jig to transport it in as I don't want the 200KG lump sliding about all over the place on the sump pan.

Anyone know the rough dimensions (width apart and height from bottom of sump) I should be looking at getting my frame built to for transport?

Or shall I just stick it on a tyre and lash it down :)

Its just about the same size as the original series diesel engine apart from the timing housing at the front.

I can measure my existing mounts I guess as they will be same (2.25 petrol) but what about height from mount to bottom of sump please anyone?

12" enough?

I have moved alot of tdi engine's in the back of my series and in a trailer allways drop them on a tyre and strap them in.

i do the same as Mick2a sometimes but to be honest as long as it's wedged or strapped down securely i really wouldn't worry about it sitting on the sump, i walk them in and out of my garage on the sump without causing them any damage, i brought a 19j back to the midlands from south wales in my tub with just a couple of ropes holding it upright and a couple of old scrap tyres wedging it in place without any problems and i'm not one for hanging around
