Hi there,

This is my first post on the forum so sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

I have been driving my 1994 land rover defender 200TDI for around 4 months now and in the past month i have had this recurring problem with the center diff.

The problem only occurs when i park the land rover with the hand brake on, if i release the handbrake the truck will not move and will take for me to drive forward for it to release off. Once i have moved around 1 foot it will make a noise i can only describe as gear grinding and it will judder like hell, i have been told to rock in back and fourth and play with the transfer box gear lever.

After about 5 minutes it will finally release and i am able to drive as normal, does anyone have any idea off what this sounds like?? Sorry for the shoddy explanation but its the only way i can describe it.

It would appear that your handbrake is sticking on. You need to strip and clean it. You also need to get smartly to the introduce yourself section before the flak starts to fly

Folk seem to have given up on the public floggings for failing to introduce. Shame really.
