I am installing a 200tdi in to my series 3 SWB. Can anyone give me advise on what I should do to the engine before I install it. Obviously a new timing belt is a start anything else?

Rear crank main seal, also flywheel housing to block gasket if they show the slightest signs of leakage, they will get worse!

you may aswell take your wings off to fit it IMO makes it much easier and you can work on it much better then refit wings after its running.

its not hard no. just for the amount of work to take the wings off, in fact i took them off complete attached to the slam panel so even easier.

just means you can get right round the engine and its a lot easier to get at stuff like the starter solenoid etc.

Thanks, I have all the body off and I am removing the bulk head so it will be an easy fit.
More concerned about checking the actual engine before I fit it, I don't want to have to remove it once it is in. Any other ideas?

I am also looking at the Exhaust, I have a full Disco exhaust any advise on the down pipe etc would be appreciated. Also how best to fit the radiator and intercooler, hoses etc.
regards

Mate got on eof the downpipes from ebay for his disco tdi into 90 and it looked pretty poorly made, steve parker one looks good though.

The engine is fairly straight forward to lift in and out with the wings on... stripped the 200tdi out of mine in one night (due to a snapped cam belt... def worth replacing before fitting...:rolleyes:)

Same with putting it in- no need to remove the bulkhead or anything overly keen - i'd even leave the wings on
