To anyone who did the 200di conversion and used the top part of the series thermostat housing, which thermostat did you use?

I used the 200tdi one as it seemed to fit, rattled slightly so there might not be enough pressure behind it to make it open I suppose.

Only reason I ask is it's running a bit hot, and wondered if its because of the stat not sealing properly and not opening. I think there is a bit of air stuck in the system so will check that too.

If I should be using the series stat which one should I put in?

i used the diesel series stat in mine, had to get an adaptor to use the series temp sender in the 200 block to get the guage to read properly, no probs after that

Had a look today and there was ****loads of air stuck, managed to get about 3 litres more coolant in. Then noticed half the rad is cold. Think a good flush out is in order!

Had another look today, noticed there was droplets of coolant on the top of the bonnet, and over the engine :( Only happens on a longish run

Looks like it's coming out of the top hose where it fits the rad, I've got one of the kenlowe fan thermostat copper things shoved in the top with a load of hylomar to try and seal it, I'll try ripping it out and see if that cures it.

try putting the kenlowe t/stat thingy on the outside of the top hose, seen it done on a few modified road cars and it works just the same
cheers
