I recently bought my 1st RR a 2008 TDV8 with110k on the clock, a couple of months back. At first no probs. I loved it. However last Saturday while on my way to work and with no warning it was like I'd run out of fuel. No warning lights it just came to a halt.
While waiting for the AA I noticed it was dumping oil out of the air box so I was pretty sure it had lunched a turbo.
Moving forward. With the engine out the diagnosis was confirmed. Left hand, which I've now found out is the one that usually goes 1st.
I've since been informed by the company who are rebuilding the turbo that it is caused by the turbo "over speeding" and this is caused by an underlying problem else where with the engine. (split inter cooler, pipes, oil pick up,egr etc.) I've checked and cleaned all the pipes, egrs etc. (apart from the intercooler which is going away to be flushed and leak tested).
So I was just wondering if you guys had come across any common causes for this happening as I'd rather do it all while the engine's out.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
