I've been on here a while now and found it really useful for advice but I've never really posted anything that may be useful to anyone else.
But, tonight I am.
Up to 3 days a go, I've never had a single drama with my 2005 RR L322. That is until the Sat Nav, Amp and Screen gremlins terrorised the car.
Now, I looked at all the forums praying that I wouldn't have to replace any of the said items but it was looking as though I'd have to. I visited the local dealership in London close to were I live and once I picked myself up off the floor after I was delivered with the quote which was obscene I thought I'd look at it myself.
Low and behold they were trying to pull the wool!
Symptoms of the problem were;
speakers popping and crackling with no sound from the radio etc...
screen blank but illuminated
sat nav not working at all
How I repaired it in 30 mins approx.
- Removed fuses 8 (5 amp) and 49 (30 amp)
- Disconnected all of the connectors in the rear compartment of said components
- Sprayed the connections and sockets with electrolube (WD40) and left for 15 mins.
- Wiped off the excess and cleaned a small amount of verde grey off of some of the pins
- put it all back together and replaced fuses.
-Disconnected both battery leads and shorted them out.
- Reconnected battery leads, turned on the ignition and hey presto!
Not one single problem since. I wish I had looked into it myself at first but I was feeling lazy.
Hope this is of some help to some one.: amen:
