Hi all,
I've just bought a 2005 110 Hard Top at a local auction and could do with some advice if possible. It's ex-Electricity board and some items were stripped out before the auction. E.g. there's no winch or winch bumper but it has the lever on the n/s wing plus a plunger type lever in the cab. The roof rack has gone as have the 4 roof spotlights along with the tow bar ball, spare wheel, jack, brace and something for the additional heater :(

Anyway, my main problem is that the engine management light is on and the engine won't rev off idle. I read about the oil in the loom problem so took it to a local LR breakers garage who swapped out both the ECU and throttle pedal but the problem was still there.

My next attempt at fixing this will be to bypass the loom with a 7-core trailer cable that I've read about but I have no idea where to start. Any pointers would be appreciated, it would be handy to buy something ready made if possible. I would like to run a test cable to see if it works before crawling underneath the gearbox to run the cable.

Any help/advice would be great. Failing that, feel free to take the **** ;)
 
before you start replacing stuff i would get someone to check the engine diagnostics

don't know much about it but some faults put the motor into limp mode

i would have thought (dangerous i know) that a 'LR breakers garage' would have a nanocom - or something similar
 
get the fault codes read, it sounds like throttle pedal, early pedals wont work properly on later cars, could even be wiring issue, but diagnostic first
 
Sorry, forgot to mention that they plugged the diagnostic gizmo in and there were 'Driver Demand' errors showing which couldn't be cleared.

Has anyone heard of bypassing the loom?
 
driver demand error is throttle pedal fault, it will only clear when the fault is rectified, either pedal wiring or correct new switch
 
Thanks John, I've had an auto-electrician at it for two hours today and it still won't rev up. The multi-plug connector that fits to the throttle pedal has no voltage at any of the pins. I could do with knowing which pin is supposed to be live at the pedal end and also at the ECU end.

Currently Googling to find the answer but not having much luck at the moment!
