My freelander has been hesitating for a while ive just had a full service and they could not find anything wrong.

while looking under the bonnet checking a few sensors as recommended here i noticed the air flow pipe is loose no longer bolted down, and the intercooler hose sensor wire has completly snapped so it no longer has a the female connector on it and i cant see where it goes to change it?

does anyone know the part number or how to access it to replace it?

Many Thanks

this is the sensor im talking about

I think that one should have shown up as a fault - did they plug the car into a diagnostic?

no they did not run any diags, its deffently snapped off as i have the loose cable and i have found the female connector

Did you pay a lot for the service? Was it a LR place? I would go back and tell them they haven't find the job.

and get them to fix the sensor. They either broke it themselves and ignored it, or didn't notice it was broken. Which ever it was they were incompetent.

The garage I used have gone under since so got no one to go back to.

I guess if I cut one off from a breakers yard I can join it without having to dismantle it all?

I would check the crankcase vent asap, looking at the amount of oil dripping from that hose.

Erhum.. That's not your maf sensor.......I will stand corrected but that Is your map sensor.
The maf is to the rear left under the inlet manifold.
Everything goes back to the ecu.. So as long as it connects ok I would just tie wrap it in place.

looks common type plug used on injectors, temp sensors etc the plastic flexible conduit sheath most likely will have a split in it-peel it back.

Rover 75 has same engine and more likely to find in scrap yard.
Cut wire and twist to new wire-solder and insulation tape, if you do second wire offset it will not rub together and if you go steady with tape, you should get the wiring in sheath.
Failing that get a bit of sheath off a scrap car

Hi
Was looking at getting a Synergy 2a box for my TD4 FLander, and while looking into it, it has led me on to the MAF Sensor and maybe that it needs cleaning and stuff. Maybe a new one is required.
So removed the engine cover and located the sensor connector. Im a bit of a newbie, so my questions is - to disconnect it, do you squeeze the tabs together on the connector or prize them apart to disconnect?
Ive tried a bit of both but the connector is solid in there so i cant work out - how it works! I guess its never been removed since manufacture.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with that socket as I drive an L Series - but it should be pretty similar to all the other sockets and the main requirements for separation are loud swearing and spilling of blood!

BTW - how did you get on with your VCU/prop shaft and mismatched tyres?

if u squeeze the connector it will come off , u will see a small tab that's keeps them on

found it easier from the wing side to get them off

if u wish to get the maf out u will req some torx tools

I un-mismatched the tyres and the VCU kinda didnt vibrate/pulse at me that much anymore. Hasn't been a problem since !

Thanks ! You squeeze em ! (and the connector, haha) And as Grumpy said, swear a lot probably.
Yes i did notice some funky star bolt things. They don't make it easy do they !
Thanks guys

yes watch ur knuckles and ur head on the bonnet, lol

they do some really good sets on amazon

when i finally got the screws out i put some plain torx in there without the small dot in the middle , easier to get out

there are many of us that have fitted a synergy

Thats a very good idea. Did the same thing when i lost a locking wheel nut on a seat ibiza !
I noticed that about the synergy after doing some research. I was looking at the chip express product. Then thought id better have a look on here, see what you guys thought, and the synergy seemed to be the preferred piece of kit. My MAF unit was a little loose actually, so i tightened it up and for a second i thought i had gathered, at least, a horsepower back coming off roundabout last night :)
