I am very well aware the gaskets only fit one way round - still doesn't stop them from being fitted incorrectly - and by incorrectly I don't necessarily mean the wrong way round.
I trust you applied the required and correct sealant to the specified areas, fitted the two gaskets, used new sealing washers on the bolts for the cover and tightened them down to the correct torque in the correct sequence to prevent warping of the cover and to seat the seal correctly.

I put sealant on mine to make sure. I also found the seals on the chain cover protruding so cut them down flat to make a flat surface
Also make sure the pipes that go onto the pcv are on tight. For some reason the britpart pipe I recently purchased was short by about 3 cm so was as tight as f.... onto the inlets. New rubbers on the nuts are a must
If you cross thread the nuts slightly you can reverse the shaft that goes into the cam bearing, but it's a bit shorter so take care

Think he means a 'stud', cross thread it and the nut will drive it and potentially damage a bearing carrier, or something?
