Hello all,

I'm posting here in hopes of helping out a non english speaking friend...

His 2004 TD5 Disco is acting very strange. The sunroofs seem to open themselves ever so slightly when starting the truck, which eventually leads to water getting in.

I have found tons of info about leaking seals, but nothing on these strange gremlins. Anyone ever encountered them??

Thanks,
Sutherland

Just once have I seen a thread on this and the recommendation on what to look at was the switch and the fuse box, both of them for dampness/corrosion.

Thanks,

From my understanding its both sunroofs... so both switches? Sounds strange.
Is there a sunroof ECU of some-sorts that could power both of them? Or is it in the BCU?

Sutherland

There certainly is a sunroof ECU and it is located above the headlining near the rear view mirror.

I've never heard of it causing this particular issue, but as it is affecting both sunroofs, that seems like a good place to start

From the info I can find the sunroof ECU seem to be either behind the glove-box:
Land Rover Workshop Manuals > Discovery II > SUNROOF > REPAIRS > ECU - sunroof
"remove front stowage pocket"?

or behind the center console:
Land Rover Workshop Manuals > Discovery II > SUNROOF > DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION > Electric sunroof component location

Can anyone confirm or deny either?

Does anyone know about repairing them? Could they be like the Disco1 window "ecu" which can easily be soldered back together?

Thanks :)

In the area above the interior mirror as previously stated, where did u get the idea that it's behind the centre console ie. cubby box ?
As for repairs, its just like any other PCB it depends what's wrong.

If you open the links to what seems to be the Disco II Workshop Manual - in my previous post you will see where I got the info

No, these actually confirm where I said the ECU is located, in the headlining.

The second link is a little misleading, as it shows the location from above, but is correct in terms of where it is.

The first link is even more confusing as it does say it is behind a stowage pocket, but you will notice that in the immediate preceding section regarding the three sunroof switches, that it says these are in the self same stowage pocket. It is an odd word to use for where they are, but it is definitely where I said it was, above the roof lining, just to the left of the rear view mirror
