Hello,
My 2004 D2 has been stood in the drive for the past 12 months. Battery removed and on trickle.
Now need it moved this week - went to connect battery and the alarm keeps going off.

When pressing the key-fob it doesn't lock/unlock etc.
When locking with key alarm stops - when unlocking with key alarm goes off again.

Any suggestions on this one? If it's not going to be a quick fix - how easy are these things to tow ?

Changed battery in fob - can see red light when button pressed.

Cheers.

Unlocking with the key will set off the alarm, thats why your owners manual states only unlock remotely... they all do that, as the security system sensed voltage drop.
As the fobs red light is showing its transmitting, the receiver thats the head lining may not functioning, it is known to suffer if there’s any water ingress in that area I believed..

To add... theres a ‘sticky’ at the top of this page on D2 alarms,

I had similar problem with my old battery. After I jumped started it would remember the key. I can't remember what I did exactly. I think I just opened it with the door lock , possibly eka code then it would be ok for a bit until the battery died and I did the same thing. Until I took it off to get a new battery left it for a few weeks because money was tight and then it never worked since. I used my hawkeye and just open it with the key.

Thanks for the replies.
Had another quick look today. Whilst the alarm was going off I couldn't open any other doors - the unlock button on the dash didn't do anything. Surely this should work or does the immobiliser prevent this ?

Will try a new receiver anyway and pray this works - the sun roof has been leaking!

Hi, the alarm/immobiliser kicks in and it will as long as you cant unlock with the fob or you dont remobilise it with EKA code but if the dash switch didnt do anything means that the central door locking system is affected too which is not part of the alarm/immobiliser, it's possible that on the long rest outside moisture or water ingress ruined the interior fusebox or even worst the BCU which can be the cause of the non working fob too. Check fuse F1 interior fusebox cos this is for central locking but i doubt it's so simple eventually check them all or if you have the skills remove that fusebox, open it and check for corrosion in (disconnect battery first), here's an example https://forums.lr4x4.com/topic/9766...-2-td5-auto-02/?do=findComment&comment=851372 , eventualy read the whole thread cos it shows the receiver too
