Hi all, now, just staring to get through the niggly little issues iv had for nearly a year now on my rangie, had the gearbox out, and radiator and thermostat, and all other bits have been done, but it's done this for a while now, and every now and then, the steering wheel seems to forget where it comes out to, sometimes doesn't come out atall, sometimes comes out but goes too low, not everytime, but it's getting more and more! All the seats work as they should, and the stick for adjusting the steering wheel works too! I was told when I brought it, they would fit a new battery as it kept going flat, never gone flat with me, but they never did, and someone told me a doggy battery can cause these sort of problems?? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Tom.
 
Update, although no reply's, please help! Lol, if anyone has any experience of this!!! Has started dropping the steering wheel when I get out the car, engine running door open??? Anyone? Thanks, Tom.
 
Battery might still be dodgy. Do you use it daily - hence keeping the battery topped up ? Probably worthwhile checking, because even a tired but working battery can cause odd issues on both P38 & L322 (and I assume many more modern cars)

Any diagnostics on all systems just to see what errors come up ?

Or maybe just typical LR damp connectors somewhere causing weird steering adjustments ?
 
your prob better setting it where you pref then disconecting it, does it remember where to go when different memories are selected on the seat ?
 
Yea will try a battery first! Yes if you hold the 1 2 and 3 button down, the seat and steering wheel move to completely different positions, steering wheel moves in and out, up and down, but it seem to lower itself down when I get out the car to shut the gate in the morning leaving the house! The one thing I haven't done since owning it is set my own seat and steering wheel settings, could this effect it or should it remember where to go just by me moving it with the stick and nothing else? And yes it my daily, it has got worse the more I have used it! Thanks for the reply guys!
 
So you have set your positions into a memory slot??

The car remembers the position the seats and wheel were in the last time that particular key was used - at least it is supposed too.....mine doesn't...maybe it has been disabled in the settings!

Anywho, mine does set random mirror positions and the seat never moves to the exact same position each time we change ours from my girlfriends settings to mine....I always have to do little minor adjustments, and even if I set these into my memory slot it is always a little bit out.

Never figured out why, I just deal with it!

As for the steering wheel movement when your turn the car on and off, I disabled this in the settings as the movement is seldom needed for me to get in or out, and it only causes un-necessary wear on the already fragile components!
 
Yea, I don't have that issue, because I'm the only one that drives it, I haven't saved my own settings or anything to any memory slot, but yea just figured if I disconnect the steering wheel, then it can't break anytime soon, and less to go wrong, the electric seats will still work, I hope! Haha, just nice to have that feature working if it's there!

Save your seat and wheekl settings into a memory slot and see what happens....it may be moving the wheel to the previously saved memory slot position it was last set with.
 
Okay, will try that Tonite, I'll have to read hand book as I don't know how, it's all very modern for me, I'm used to a classic with Manuel seats and no abs! Hahahahaha! Do love it tho! And iv heard these columns are pretty crap, and weak!
 
Dead simples....

Get the seat, mirrors and column where you are happy with them....press the Red M button, it should light up, then press and hold for a second or so the preset number button you want to represent that position....and Robert's your mothers brother.
 
Cheers saint v8! Will try that Tonite after fitting my new battery, got a platinum 019 battery, dunno what platinum are like, but apparently these motors are fussy with battery's, 800cca, and 90ah, hopefully should be man enough, see what it's like! Anyways, thanks for advice!

Don't forget, before you disconnect the battery, you must wait for the sat nav lamp to turn off on the disc drive in the rear quarter....and remember each time you open and close a door, the boot or the bonnet, the drive wakes up again.

So, open the bonnet, the boot, KEYS IN YOUR HAND OR POCKET and the drivers door open......remove the side cover to the rear quarter and observe the light lamp....wait for it to fully extinguish, then undo the battery negative lead....wait for 10 minutes, then disconnect the positive. This give the SRS system time to discharge before you remove the positive lead as this has a pyro-charge on it to disconnect the battery in the event of collison.....I wait 20m cos I am a chicken!

NEVER disconnect the battery with keys in the ignition or before waiting for the sat nav to shut down as damage to the drive can occur.

HAVE THE KEYS IN YOUR HAND OR POCKET, then replace battery, replace the positive lead, then the negative....close the boot and the bonnet, ....and close the drivers door. Cycle the lock and unlock button, get in and start the car.....if it doesn't respond to the remote, use the door lock and get in and start the car, the key should re-sync from there.

It will bong EAS, ABS, HDC, DSC warnings at you, turn the steering to full lock left then full lock right and back to centre, the warnings should disappear......then turn the car off, it'll bong again...ignore. restart and all should be well with the world.....

You'll have to reset the time and date settings, but radio stations should be retained in memory as is seat positions.

I always keep keys in my pocket when outside of car anyways, due to land rovers mind of its own central locking! Thank-you everyone for advice, slowly getting to know these things now, just got my water pump to do, and can start making improvements rather than fixing it!
 
Oh and the steering wheels seems to be behaving after the new battery, and iv set my settings to setting 1! Seems to be all good, thanks saint v8 for the advice!

Take a goosey in the tech archive.... I did a How To for changing the water pump.
