Hi know there are a lot of post around concerning blue smoke
Now as previous post my td4 has been standing since march in that time it has been driven 9 mile tops so i have had to do a lot window regulator repairs fitted another CCU ECT ECT so i assumed this car had been neglected i blocked the vac pipe to the EGR the pipe from the exhaust as well / removed the sock from the air filter fitted a new modified crank case breather and turbo vent filter starts great no smoke but a smell of burnt diesel but rev to 2000 to 2500 i get blue smoke after that smoke clears no loss of power at any speed idle is smooth low pressure pump is noisy and i haven't done the filter as yet . IT did not smoke before could it just be clearing its throat or am i not that lucky
UP to close on £300 for parts so far so getting a bit reluctant to start throwing more money at it as its starting to cost more than its worth so please any thoughts

Hi,

Change the fuel filter if you can. If the low pressure pump is doing some noise, you will certainly need to replace it only if you can afford buying an oem one.
Don't buy a cheap low pressure pump ( they are noisy and not very reliable)

If the car was neglected you need to do a full service :
Look at any leak in turbo hoses, fuel pipes, depression hoses ...
Also check the vcu bearing, uv joint on the propshaft, diff mounts ...

Hi yes i have done all the above and prop and diff are all ok new pads on the front a shoes on the rear i have ordered a fuel filter and pump and a pressure regulator repair kit trying to cover basics i found a split vacuum pipe the one next to the pipe that goes up to the EGR off the solenoid on the side of the engine under the EGR but have not checked any of the others as yet as i said my mrs followed me home when i collected the car and did not smoke at all only started after doing what i have done so far i do not think its injectors as it starts after 2 revolutions of the starter motor and idles smoothly no misfire and no smoke only condensation thanks again
 
My freelander has almost 110 000 miles, and still having the original low pressure pump.
The low pressure pump should not have any issue, expect if you feed it with exotic diesel, never bleed the sedimenter or change the fuel filter.

For the fuel filter put some grease to remove it more easily next time, it is stuck in the plastic part.
Also there is a small piece of metal that is connected to the fuel filter YPZ000010, most of the time that part rust and break ( probably to reheat the diesel ).

Before I forget, on the freelander td4, the fuel filter is next to the rear right wheel ...
