Hi,

I’ve a 2003 L322 which has had an ‘iffy’ radio since I got it. Some of the buttons don’t work and switching it off causes the clock
To reset to 12:00 !

I have a donor unit and was going to swap the control board for the buttons across in case it’s a physical issue (some of them work, some don’t)

When I got into my dash and lifted the stereo out (base unit with single CD and Multichanger in glovebox) it was clear that someone has been in there previously. Everything ‘looks’ ok but there’s one 3-core
Connector with one yellow and one brown cable coming out of it which wasn’t plugged in anywhere -nor can I see anywhere that it ‘should’ be plugged in to ! -it’s about the same length as the aerial cable.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be and whether it might be important ?

Thanks again

Bob

In answer to my own question….

I think the connector is for the central speaker in the dash which a previous owner may have removed from my car but which I can restore tomorrow :)

All the buttons and the clock / information system / CD multi changer now work :)
Happy days

So what did you actually do?

I got a second unit from the bay for £20 -it was reported as working but no display.

When I opened it the LCD ribbon cable was disconnected -but to avoid any potential radio code issues I took the front panel from
It with the buttons and volume knob and swapped it onto my unit

Connected it all back up and Bingo !
Everything works as it should and that pesky connector looks like it fits the centre speaker.

Also took the chance to fix the cup holder and driver’s vent -so it was a productive morning.

Have a parking sensor control unit swap to try tomorrow
