Hi all I’m Sam a newbe to Landyzone but not to Landrovers I have a 2003 td5 D2 with a 2inch lift and mud tyres on a group of us were out yesterday green laning in not so sunny north Norfolk my landpig (family nickname)developed a problem where abouts it kept applying it’s own brakes randomly the last time it happened was as I went through quite a big pot hole and it almost stopped by it’s self I wondered if anyone on here have heard or witnessed such random behaviour
Yours hopefully Sam
Happy new year

Hi, happy new year, what you describe is not uncomon, it's erratic behaviour of the traction controll, happens when there is a missballance between the ABS sensor inputs and the system "thinks" a wheel is spinning and applies brakes on it to equalise the speeds. Can be due to multiple reasons such as unevenly worn or inflated tyres especially if they are bigger with more than 5% than standard cos then the whole ABS system is mixed up. Did you replace a wheel hub lately? there are cases when cheap hubs have the wrong number of teeth on the reluctor ring hence the missballance in signals at the same wheel speed. Until you find out what's wrong you can remove the ABS relay then the 3 amigos will come on and the TC disabled together with all ABS functions so if you do that be cautios with the braking.

Thanks for the quick response I have changed a bearing hub about a year ago and all has been well since including some quite heavy off-roading,rivers and lots of mud I have a friend who helps me out with the landpig so I’ll plug it in and check on wheel speeds it’s been fine on the road just that one pothole and the other times it done it almost seemed like a delayed reaction after spinning the wheels in thick mud thanks again I’ll let you know how I get on
