Hi everyone I'm new here so bare with me on this and I hope I've posted this in the right place,I've got a 2002 Range Rover p38 2.5 bmw engine its been hard to start at times other times fires straight up,problem is now it's turning over but won't fire I noticed a diesel leak by one of the injectors and after reading up on some sites it said to replace the leak off pipes which I've done...still to no avail will I need to bleed the system or not after this is done if so how do I go about it I'm not great on Diesel engines been more of a petrol head most my life ...jst to note I put a bit of easy start in it yesterday it fired straight up but died again any help would be much appreciated thanks
 
No mate the glow plug light stays on for around 6 seconds then goes out if that means anything ..and jst to note it had a brand new fuel pump fitted 3 months ago costing £800
 
Get some glow plugs, BUT quality ones, cheap ones will break off when you try and take them out next time
 
Some ppl say it may not be the glow plugs due to the weather not being that cold etc again I wouldn't know but I'll change them and see how it goes...going back to my first thread in this do I need to bleed the system after the leak off pipe change?
 
Don't get ahead of yourself, do you have air in the transparent pipe that runs from the fuel filter to the fip? Is the in tank pump working, check out the technical archive for the how to check.There is lots to check before you open your check book.
 
The pipe your talking about is a clear pipe yes?...I can't seem to find that pipe for love or money
Yes,it runs from the fuel filter housing to the fuel injector pump.

Is you fuel tank wet underneath?
Don't start spending penny's just yet until you've made physical checks around the vehicle!! And diesel leaking anywhere on the engine/car is a way for air to get! Maybe you have a split pipe somewhere else!!
Top of the fuel pump? Or is your front axle wet?
I hope your writing this down?:p
