Hi, I have an engine swap to do for a guy this week on his 2002 Freelander, basically recovered from miles away, compression tested - low compression on 3 next to no compression on 2, head removed, chunks missing from second piston, decided he could get a new engine cheaper than what parts were likely to cost to fix this one, any way my question is (as I haven't done an engine swap on a four wheel drive before), the block being all that remains of old engine in the car (head still off), is it possible to pull it out and put replacement engine in with out removing the gearbox and transfer box, swapping up through the engine bay as a posed to dropping it out the bottom?
