Looking for some advice...

I have an intermittent issue with the brake lights on my 2002 110 Defender DCPU.

When I first start the Land Rover all is well and good, and for some time everything works. But every now and then, after it has got up to normal temperature, the brake lights will stop working. Then the next time I come to use the LR after leaving it for a couple of days all is working again for a while.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar or got any ideas of what might be causing this/how to fix it?

Many Thanks and Merry Christmas

Hi SR4X4
Have you had a look at the brake light switch? It is a mechanical device (not in the hydraulic system) it screws into the pedal box and is adjustable.
Firstly take a look at the switch is it loose in the pedal box it should be tight, grab it and try to move it if it moves it needs tightening.
Next check the connections to the switch it is a simple on/off switch only two wires
Next I would be looking to see if it out of adjustment but only just out of adjustment hence the intermittent problem.
Next look at the condition of the switch it may be damaged.
Good luck

Thanks Tim!

Where on the pedal box am I looking for the switch, and any clues on what it’ll look like?

Many Thanks
