I went to a friends house and stopped the car on his drive. Got out and used the fob to lock the car. Went to start the car later, about 4 hours later, and it turned over but wouldn't fire. The only indication that is different on the dash is all of the EAS lights are showing on. Continuous cranking and still no different. Have checked all fuses and all are right. I don't have a manual to check what relay does what so can't tell if they are OK. Please, any suggestions. I will put the battery on charge tomorrow to replenish the cranking use.
PS. I left the car standing on the same drive and went on holiday for two weeks. My friend couldn't start the car due to a flat battery. The battery is brand new. Apparently the garage that installed the new battery didn't tighten the connectors. My friend recharged the battery after tightening the connectors. When I got back from my hols the Sunroof not set and Rear near side window not set etc etc etc message came up on the dash. I eventually lowered each window then raised the same and set the sunroof and it appeared to cure the messages but now it won't go. Please advise.

i have a 2001 with latest reciever but still get this. IMHO upgrading the reciever makes feck all difference. Put your location in your profile captvx and someone near yu may have a synchmate to come and get you up and running

You need the "Check Engine" light on if it's a petrol and the "Injector" and Glow Plug light on if it's a diesel when you switch the ignition on before you look anywhere else.

Would like to thank you all for your input. My update is I got the RAC to come have a look and no spark and he suggested the crankshaft sender is suspect. Am going to try West 4x4 in Waltham Chase. Please, if you have any other suggestions then please post them. I miss my RR and like Lording it over the lower echelons.

I've had exactly this problem. Take the battery to get it charged. When its back, first, synch your key fob. Put in the door lock and turn to open while pressing unlock. Then turn to lock while pressing lock. Now don't use the fob just yet. Enter the EKA code in the door. Make sure your bonnet is closed or the code will not be accepted. Now put key in ignition and turn to position 2. Does the check engine light come on? The engine will start. If the light didn't come on then press unlock on the fob and try again. If you're lucky, it will start. But you need to find the root of the problem, is it battery drain, is it a BECM / ECU sync problem because if you don't it will happen again.

edit. sorry should mention that mine's an earlier car than yours. this works on mine but i'm not certain about the 2001. worth a try though?

Sounds like it's out of sync. Get someone near to you with a sync mate.. I'd do it for you but I'm 200 miles away.. Good luck..
