My bro in law has a 2001 Freelander Td4 .
There is a 'blow' in the exhaust and it's from the joint where the front pipe is attached to the turbo .
He went to the local main dlr to get a gasket for this joint - but no luck .
They can't find any on their system - and couldn't tell us for sure if in fact there is a type of gasket there ???
As it's in a very awkward position I didn't want to go dismantling ' just for a look ' .
Would anyone here know if there is a gasket - or are the pipe and turbo just clamped together ?
The pipe feels a bit loose even though the bolts are tightened up as far as they can - and you can see the black on some of the engine parts from the blow .

Thanks middleton :)- will have to get back to dlr and see have they any more 'pics' .
I 'tried' the 2 nuts yesterday and didn't like the feel of them at all :(- last thing I want is one of the bolts to shear .
Gave them a good dousing with penetrating oil - might help .
Would being hot or cold make any difference as regards loosening ?
