I'm lost as to what is causing a whirring noise when I put my foot on the brake and it stops when i lift it off. Then the noise comes back in again. Can anyone help by explaining what it is, do i need to replace anything. I'm totally new to Range Rover problems and do not know anything about engines etc. Grateful for any help and old threads do not seem to answer my question.

It sounds like a pump whirring but I don't think its the suspension as it goes off when i lift my foot off the brake. Suspension not bobbing up and down at the junction

hi, could it not be the abs pump your hearing building up pressure in the accumulator
as a couple of p38's i have do the same

regards jim

If you hear the pump go everytime you press the brake pedal, the accumulator is shot, it should not run every time, leave it and you will need a new pump. Accumulator about £80, pump about £££££££££££

Thanks again gentlemen for your superior knowledge in these matters. I'd be lost without the advice given:)
