Hi,

I have a 1998MY P38a Range Rover and I want to fit some front seats out of a 2000MY into my car, does anybody no if this can be done, is it a straight swap if the complete seat is replaced, will it bolt straight in? Not worried about difference in wiring etc, just need to know if the complete seat will fit straight in.

Thank you

As far as i know a straight swap as people often up grade earlier models 94-98 with the later 5 bar seats the only difference on the early ones is no side air bag wiring.

5 bar seats? What does the 5 bar refer to?

The early leather seats had three stitched bars on the back and squab the later had extra rows of stitching making it five bars, came in on the 98-99 revamp along with leather trims on the door cards.

The 3 bar seats were still being fitted in late 99 on cars shipped to the EU as they are fitted on my LHD P38

I have just carried out this change over from a 2000MY to a 97 and the only problem was the seat belts from the later model have the auto tension and will not fit the early door pillar, simple just change the belts from the earlier car.
Otherwise all the trim fitted straight in.

I prefer 3 row.
5 is just more place for grit and dog hair
