hi i need to change my gearbox oil,
im trying to locate the drain plug and filling plug can anyone help thanks

i have just undone the top hex bolt then undone the bigger bottom one and a teaspoon of fluid came out????

Not sure if you have undone the right ones but any lower oil home that only drops a teaspoon would worry me even if it's an air lock and the top one is the wrong one!

Does this help?

altan,do you have the auto box or the manual gearbox,if its the auto then you might have undone the wrong plug? tim.

He's got a 2000 xdi according to his other freds, so it's a manual rover diesel L series.

hi everyone for your help if you where to take the passenger side wheel off there is a plastic cover to protect the end of the gear box and on the end there is one big allen key plug and about 3 inches above it there is a smaller allen key bung?
then further arounf right next to where the drive shaft goes into the box there is a spanner bung and right at the bottom of that there is a square female bung

not sure which one is which if this makes any sense
