I am in desperate need of advice...

Our 2000 TD5 will not fire up. When the ignition is turned on the fuel pump makes a hell of a noise and when you turn it over it shows no sign of wanting to fire up?

If anyone has any ideas I would really appresiate the help!?!?

Thanks

then i would say thats you problem or one of of the injector seals has gone

Noisy fuel pump usually means a knackered pump or blocked pump filter. Try removing the pump and checking the filters one on the outside and one inside the main body. Be carefull getting the main body off its a bit flimsy. Lack of fuel = none start. Would do this before ripping injectors out :confused::confused:

fitted new external filter & checked fuel pump actually pumping fuel when ignition on and it is?

Any more ideas as we really need to get this running ASAP.

Thanx for all the info but in need of any more ideas.

fuel pump makes noise until it is primed then it stops.

Has anyone got nanocom in the Cambridge area????

Sorry to be a pain but anyone any other ideas?

We don't have nanocom(or know what it is).

Thanks again.

Nanocom is a piece of diagnostic hardware (www.nanocom.it) which allows you to ask the ECU what faults it is aware of. Some faults it may not know so it doesn't always help, but it certainly helps find any sensors which are faulty etc.

But if nobody is near you then it doesnt help you really, though at £200-ish, it might be a worthwhile investment especially if you are going to do plenty of landrover fault finding in future!

check the fuel filter and filter head it is in the rear off side wheel arch. the filter usually gets damp and corrodes and the filter head corrodes and goes porous then the pump starts squealing as it try's to purge the air out of the system.
