I've owned my tangy for years and the sound has never worked on the sat nav , it is not muted by the mute button it's just like my wife and refuses to talk to me. The volume on the radio works as it should . Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks

Original handbook is of no help at all and the only rave I've ever heard of involves bands with very loud music and young people smoking joints lol

Think of all the work that would come for local recovery trucks

This might not apply. I "upgraded" my satnav to DVD. If you haven't this doesn't apply. I got no sound and had to tap into the connectors and put in a separate amp and speakers. Also ground loop isolators. I also found that my previous cd satnav audio outputs weren't as the pinouts commonly available. I have a harmon Kardam system. I fished around with a jack socket and earphones till I found something coming out. Obviously avoid the obvious power/data inputs and outputs. It works.

Does the radio etc mute when the sat nav is supposed to say something, or just absolutely nothing?
If it mutes but says nothing, then I'd suspect the audio wiring between nav computer and the DSP amp.
If it doesn't even mute, then I'd check the mute line wire between the nav computer and the DSP amp.

I believe the nav computer should pull the mute line to ground to signal the DSP amp to mute the audio in the appropriate location and play the nav audio - so you could also check this is working with a multimeter.

Wiring... There are 3 wires between the Nav computer and DSP amp:
Yellow/Orange: Navigation Audio -ve
Orange/Yellow: Navigation Audio +ve
Grey/Orange: Navigation Mute

These wires only go through one connector from the Nav unit to DSP amp - which is C1378/C1374L Which is behind the kick panel in the LHF footwell, 12way White connector.

In fact - the kick panel connectors are known for giving problems due to water ingress and corrosion - so I'd start there.

Hope this helps,
Marty

To down load Rave look top left of range rover home page Technical Archive in there look for Rave and Microcat downloads
and have fun:)

I suppose you've been into the settings to see if someone has lowered the audio to zero. Also it's curtains if you do any disconnecting before the red light goes out. I've got out of jail by running a proven operating system disc. That's my simple layman's non technical input.
