Morning all. My 2000 BMW 2.5 has developed yet another problem. I recently replaced the FIP and all seemed ok. I started it on Friday and no problems. I went to start it again on Saturday and it wouldn't start. I noticed that the dash didn't have the glow plug light. I plugged my hawkeye total in but it wouldn't connect. My next thought was the wires behind the diagnostic port and the multiplugs in driver's footwell. All seem ok. Plugged my becm syncmate in and it went to red light so unable to sync. Checked eka code in door and that worked. Both keys resynced. Took fusebox out, no damage. Anyone got a clue as to what I do next before I rip dash out. TIA

Have you actually checked the fuses and as brianp38dse says the glowplug fuse in the EDC box behind the battery?

Could be the EDC temperature sensor has failed, that could stop the glow plugs coming on, but the fact that diagnostics will not connect sounds like something more serious, the carpet in the drivers footwell is not wet underneath by any chance?

Carpet is wet underneath but it hasn't got into becm as far as I can see

This is the glow plug maxi fuse except this one has blown (pic pinch from Lukas 018`s thread)

OK that rules that one out, can you feel the diesel stop solenoid on the pump clicking when the ignition is on.

Might have lost sync between EMS and BECM although why that would affect glows is a mystery. Could be that and temperature sender. Has it got a hot-start fitted?

Got diagnostics to connect to eas and abs and airbag. Won't connect to gearbox and engine. I have also got a blackbox syncmate which syncs becm and ems but that won't sync. No hot start fitted

I’m not convinced it’s electrical. Has it been running since you stripped the pump
How did you set static?
Been running every day for a week no problems. Pump fitted into keyway which was held in place using bmw tool for m51 pump and then meter put in back of pump to time pump up

If the carpet is wet, corroded connectors and condensation in the BECM can cause havoc.
Took ems out earlier and looks ok inside no circuits damaged. Becm is next out tomorrow. Also had started to strip bottom of dash out. At moment I can't see any problems with wiring

I had this issue where the ECU shorted out and my sync mate would not connect. I saw Rick the lick who fixed it and I confirmed it when he advised the following:

Put a jump lead from the body of the ECU to the negative battery of the terminal then put car on ignition 2 if glow plug and engine check light come on there is a broken circuit in ECU?

Let me know @Ade1966
