your not going to pay someone to adjust the diaphragm and star wheel are you?!

you could always buy a boost pin. people never shut up about the stupid boost pins.

oohhh this seller of an alternative boost pin is getting on my goat...

Landrover Defender / Discovery Fuel Pin **Boost Pin** 200/300tdi

THESE PINS HAVE BEEN CASE HARDENED "EXTREMELY DURABLE"

JUST AS STRONG AS STAINLESS IF NOT HARDER

"Case Hardening is a technique in which the metal surface is reinforced by the adding of another metal alloy that is more durable"

What complete tripe!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

But wait there is more!!

"Landrover Defender / Discovery Fuel Pin **Boost Pin** 200/300tdi - More Power - Less Fuel"

What ****e

What the hell are those meant to do! Is this instead of just turning the pin that is already there? A fully tweaked pump as it is will #### your engine, so surely these pins just take it to the extreme!

Case hardening is just bringing the carbon atoms to the surface to make the outside harder using a reaction with carbonates and heat!

The boost pins have a different profile which increases fueling quicker than with a standard pin.

Lots of folk rate them but there's been bit of a recent scandal with pins from some suppliers being soft and scoring deeply very quickly.

well not exactly...

yes its adding extra carbon to just the surface but its not taking carbon from within the structure of the component. Its done by adding additional carbon from an external source. :)

someone should tell him strong and hardness are two different things.

also

so what hes saying is "its harder than a very soft thing" - 25% cr superduplex stainless steel 7" premium threads are what give me nightmares...... the surface on them is so soft that it picks up at the slightest hint of misalignment

Has anyone just replaced the fueling pin for more low end boost with out any other modifications. Would like to know the results. My injector pump is new but engine has approx 300 000kms. Runs great just like to keep up with traffic!

It will smoke at low rpms with high throttle demands until the revs catch up, maybe not an issue where you are, but frowned upon in the UK.
You will get the same if not better bang for your buck (and much less smoke) by simply rotating the original fuel pin by 90 degrees clockwise.

Is it worth changing boost pin. Injector pump less than 1 yr old runs great! Just like to get a little more get up and go to catch traffic. But drive allot on highway at highways speeds 100km/h

Yes fitted a recon'd 300 inj pump to my 200 engine a few months and just recently fitted a new forby boost pin and boost rings and its totally changed the performance more power and more economical, was boosting at just over 1 bar now boosting at 1.3 bar, doesn't sound much but its made a big difference :)

Not sure what damage they can do as mine's got a new 300 turbo new recon'd inj pump and a new recon'd gearbox so not sure, but mine is set at 1.3 bar but can be set to 1.5 safely hope this helps

I personally think you'd be better off sorting the transfer ratios and tire sizes to get the most out of it before trying to turn up 'gas'
