hi all, as some of you may know i've been recently converting my mpi disco to a 200 tdi and all was going well, too well, very nearly finished until tonight

Sorry for being a bit long winded but here goes, got the clutch bled and the gearbox is selecting gears fine, but the transfer box is giving me problems, it selects hi range fine and will drive, seems like it selects low range fine but when i try to move the disco nothing happens, no drive, could the transfer box itself be broken or could it be the selector mechanism on top of the transfer box, i know its not the linkages to the lever inside as i took them off and was moving the selectors on top of the transfer box with a pair of grips
I do have the transfer box from the mpi which i know works fine but would like your expert opinion before i just go ahead and change it

any replies or advice would be very much greatly appreciated

have you tried adjusting linkage diff lock on eyebolt and high low by removing cam ring and moving round a spline or2

not tried that but i was moving the selector on the transfer box itself with some grips where that linkage connects, thats where i was selecting it from

yeah i know what you mean, i tried rocking back and forth etc but something definitely isn't working, it feels like it goes in (selects) but no drive

anything is possible but id be surprised if low was broken ,more selector not going far enough or loose in top housing

so you think it could just be the selector mechanism on the transfer box, and if so do you know if its difficult to change mate?

on the rhs side rear of box is a 6mm plug loosen it some ,then retighten till both select ,if you undo 6 x bolt removetop and check 5mm all srew is tight ,

Well had a quick look at the mechanism and that seems ok,
@ james martin, had a look for those adjuster screws u mentioned but cant see any on there

rhs is drivers side ,top rear is detent screw ,other grub screw is under housing, there both there on all lt230s, if selector will slide over high gear there shouldnt be a reason why it doesnt slide over low and still drive without other symptoms but for too tight detent or loose grub screw

Got this sorted now turned out to be the selector pin inside the transfer box was sticking big time, but managed to get it freed up and working sweetly, thanks for your replies james is much appreciated
