Help !!
Defender 200 tdi black smoke and revving its nuts off
taken turbo pipes off
taken throttle cable off
cleaned return pipes out
Changed pump but still doing it, can't stop it revving flat out
could be both pumps knackered, not sure

Take the top of the FIP off and see that the throttle pin is moving in and out ?

It could be stuck in which means you will have trouble getting the diaphram out...

Changed pump, do you mean lift or injector pump?

Has the injector pump been tweaked?

Has the speed adjuster ontop of the pump slipped? if its anything like the CAV pumps It doesnt have to move much.

Going to have a look inside diaphram in top of pumps tomorrow see if pin is free
Is there a chance that the cold start could have stuck open on both pumps ?

Update....
It appears that both pumps are rusty inside, I understand that the one that has been under the bench for five years could be rusty but the one that has been in constant use shouldn't have rust etc inside it.
Maybe it's because he used bio, or maybe should have added lubricant when using pump diesel, I'll be putting light oil in with the diesel in future, who knows what modern fuels do to old pumps.

I have used Millers additive for years, I'm convinced it adds a little Oomph, and it's supposed to be good for the entire fuel system.
