Evening,
I'm just starting on a Series 3 Rebuild, so far I've completed the chassis, axles, gearbox and bulkhead installs.
I have now installed the engine (200 TDi), the donor engine was from a discovery and was installed quite easily.
However, On installing the exhaust manifiold, the turbo clashes with the chassis. I've looked at various suggestions, including clocking the turbo and shimming the engine mounts.
Has anyone on here carried out any of the aforementioned or would like to comment on any other suggestions, relative to the problems.
Could anyone confirm the minimum clearance between the chassis and the turbo? Obviously there is movement from the engine mounts. If I did shim the engine mounts to create clearance, would I need to do the same to the gearbox, in order to retain the alignment?
Any detailed photographs or sensible suggestions would be gladly appreciated.
Regards,
John
