right then ppl ive got my self an ex army 90 on a d plate 2.5 na diesel, and i need to know if my 200 tdi out of my disco will bolt straight onto the defenders gearbox ,i allready know every thing else is a straight swop. thanks

IIRC you will need to swap the flywheel housing off you 2.5 n/a engine onto the 200Tdi to make it mate to the gearbox.

You'll have to make up an exhaust, but the rest should be just nut and bolts :)

hi mate,

i have a d-reg NA 90 with a 200tdi conversion. I live in devon too so your welcome to come take a look. i didn't do the conversion unfortunately so haven't a clue how they did it!

i'm in south hams, give me a shout if you fancy a peak. it may be some help. probably not.

Bell housing doesn't need to be changed - even the 300tdi will mate up no bother with a few stud location swaps.

The disco 200tdi engines turbo will get in the way and hit the passenger side footwell - solutions:

Split the turbo and rotate outermost part 120deg so that it will fit, or 2 modify the footwell - some people do a nice chop and weld here - some muppets smack it with a hammer. Or you can get the defender bits - can be expensive.

Did yer get me PM last week mate?

Prehaps you're right (shrug) :)

I had to swap a 2.5 flywheel housing onto a 300Tdi to get it to fit a box (LT77 IIRC) in a 90, but that was a while ago now :)
