just wondering if anyone has a 200 tdi engine for sale, i've been quoted around £800 to supply and fit one from "custom your landy" just off the m18, i'm happy enough with that but i thought i'd ask anyway, any thoughts or advice appreciated. (it's going into a 1987 110 2.5td)

Sorry haven't got an engine but I at that price for a replacement and conversion I would take there hand off. Thats a dam good price! As an owner of a 1987 110 2.5NA I would be very interested if they have a second engine at about that price.

0870 1232020 - CUSTOM YOUR LANDY. Found this guy through ebay, deals with crashed rovers, quoted 600ish for 200tdi engine(presume a disco at that price)and 350 to fit but would give 150 for my 2.5td in exchange leaving around 800 for the job. if you type in item number 456425455 on ebay you'll see his stuff. read his feedback though, others say there is no proper web address and that obviously isn't a normal landline number, i was quite surprised myself at that quote and people say it is 'too' cheap to be right, i don't really know what the going rate is for a transplant.

Well lads and lasses i have been a dam fool again!!!:

I finally got my engine after the following:

• Week late than they said
• Weeks holiday taken and only got engine today so wont be fitted and no car to get to work!
• Been lied to by the supplier all week!!
• Price went up from supplier
• Came with no lifting gear had to lift out of transit and then bust my back to roll on tyres up to my house !!
• Only dropped off engine the below is missing and after talking to the bosss today still dont know what to do as i was told all parts would be on it and they are not!!! ( Excuse the lack of knoweldge and yes i know you should never trust people but i do not care as i do keep my word but some lesser worms do not but that is our our times i suppose and again i got ripped off, i have now spent out and cannot afford any of these parts so if anyone could help i would be most gratefull???????????????????????????????????????????????

It has caused arguments in the house all because i trusted a man and his word..never again!!! look at the impossible list of parts not with it:

• Best one of all ( Turbo )
• Manifold for Turbo
• Oil dip pipe damaged needs relacement!
• Oil dip pipe bent replacement needed!
• Alternator
• Starter motor
• Rad and Intercooler and hoses
• Down pipe Exaust
• Throttle cables etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could kill these people but they are in Gloucestershire and if i go down i will be locked up i know it!!!


I am glad i have the engine and it looks the dogs and no leaks but i am stuck with no money to buy parts and no car they have lied and cheated me out of my money and i have nothing to show for it but alot of money to find and time which is not on my side.
They also called me a lyer on some points and also told me the engine would come with copleate kit and was on the wagone three times this week and each time i had to ring and then they said it wasnt who is the lyer!!!!

I am gutted penny less and and engineless all in one day the stress is killing me and made me act with white rage all day with no cure!!


OR I HAVE MY 90 2.5 TD ENGINE WOULD ANY PARTS FIT FROM THAT ONE????????????

Jeez sorry to hear your trouble, the alternator, and starting motor should fit the 200tdi, the manifold and turbo for a defender are hard to get, you might have to look at a manifold off a disco and modify the vehicle for this to fit, trottle cable, wiring loom on your own should fit.
Buy a new rad as they are cheap enough, a second hand intercooler off a disco with pipes will fit. the exhaust down pipe will depend on what turbo you fit.

Guess what no show on parts so time to CCJ em and other little treats!!!

Well im gutted ..not that i would expect anything else from these breakers ive dealt with,No parts at all!!

Worse bit is im totally skint now having bought the Engine and have not other way bar the CCJ option to pursue them now

I have an Engine on my dirve due to the plonkers not comming with lifting gear as i did request but we had to roll the engine onto tryes .., I couldnt move myslef as i have just decided to take a Drill and attempt to Drill my leg..not Intentional of course so im layed up at home hobbling like a good un , I tried to help my mate by Drilling out a bleed Nipple that broke of on his Landys Master cylinder for Clutch., I sat crossed legged in the street whilst he heated the Master cylinder and i drilled it ..oooopss it slippped off and went through my Ankle at the rear of my ankle bone at that point i passed out and found my self in Hospital!!

The luck i have, are you all crying yet??, Violins???..

Na im just racked off nothing seems to be going right for me and the misses.

So if anyone can help in any way as i cannot fir the Engine at all and have my Landy on the drive minus a Engine, One idea i have is if anyone caould help with parts i and fitting i would pherhaps give them the 2.5 TD thats in the Landy at the moment???..To be hounest i dont know what to to??

Or if anyone has the Bits listed that are missing kicking around their Garage????

Last thing i have filled the new Engine with old Engine Oil and stuffed the rocker Top with a Rag, what else should i do for storage till fitting some YEAR!!!

Which company supplied the engine?

A few years ago a similar thing happened to me. I ordered a second hand low mileage Seat Ibiza engine (VW diesel golf engine) from a salvage company near Lancaster. Waited weeks for it, constantly asking when it would arrive. After 4 or 5 weeks, finally rang my credit card company (Royal Bank of Scotland) and they got a refund sorted within a few days. Credit card companies have a great deal of authority over businesses who take payment by credit card. If that's how you paid and the item does not meet their description at the time you agreed to the sale then you're in a very strong position and you will very likely get all your money back.
