I recently replaced my 200tdi cylinder head because I suspected a gasket failure and I had a spare one which I had skimmed and reconed basically. I wanted to have the best for the old girl as I'm getting on a bit and don't want to have to be replacing engine parts in a few years time when I'm old and knackered.
Anyway, when I took the head of to replace it I found nothing actually wrong, so I put 'new' head on, replaced the head gasket and head bolts and put the old head in the shed. I doubt very much if I will ever need it so would it be worth my while trying to sell it or would I get very little for it, its blue by the way:eek::)

you cant get new ones so it be a shame if it wasnt available for someone to use,got to be worth a 100 if in good nick

If I'm informed correctly o_O

'200 heads are not available new anymore (I have 2 spare stashed in case of emergency ;) ) but don't suffer too badly with cracking

'300 heads are readily available new for a few hundred £'s, seems that the 'mods' done to create the '300 series made them more liable to cracking :(

I'm probably wrong & am prepared to change a doomed head on my '200 Disco as I jinx myself now :eek::D

Rich. (Changing injector pump on said '200 Disco as I type o_O )

All the time you have the 200 engine I would keep the head, Its never going to go down in value.
I also have a spare one under the bench.
They do crack between the valve seats, the cracks can actually be quite large and still hold, I can vouch for that!

Bit of a dilemma then, sell or keep?
Would cracking be down to abuse, not heard of that being a problem before. do need the cash though I'm applying for a passport and I think its about 80 quid.
Selling my kit car project as well but keeping the V twin lawnmower project for the time being.
Bought a Peugeot 308 1.6dti with an engine fault and fixed it , twas just a cam chain rattling so total cost inc car gaskets timing belt kit and chain water pump etc come to less than 300 quid so well pleased with that. Just got to get money back I spent somehow.:)

If you need the cash sell it, lets be honest they are not rare yet and are never likely to be.
Its pretty hard to abuse a 200tdi as very tough, slow as fook but tough.
I reckon cracking is down to tuning or getting very hot off road, not that I would do either you understand!
